OUR ROOTS
My Tutor and Teaching Centre opened its first centre in Greenside, Johannesburg, in 2008, under the principalship of Careen du Plessis.
On reaching capacity, a second Centre was opened later that year. The two Centres were later combined into the campus in Linden. After several years, we again needed more space, so we moved to our current premises in Saxonwold.
Our growth attests to the success of our campus and staff in meeting the needs of our learners.
We started out as a home-school centre, and now are registered as an independent private school at the Gauteng Department of Education.

THE STORY BEHIND OUR LOGO
We believe every learner is unique, just like the different shapes that make up our logo. Each student brings their own personality, strengths, and learning style – and our role is to provide the right environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
This belief is captured in our slogan:
“Where Education Meets Individuality.”
Our logo is made up of four geometric shapes—each representing the different kinds of learners we welcome and support at MTTC:
THE CIRCLE – The Nurturer and Thinker
The circle represents students who are creative, intuitive, and people-oriented. They learn best in an environment that fosters collaboration, exploration, and emotional growth. These learners thrive when they feel supported and encouraged, much like how MTTC provides a safe and inclusive space for every student.
THE TRIANGLE – The Ambitious Leader
The triangle symbolizes strength, ambition, and resilience. These students are goal-driven, eager to overcome challenges, and lead by example. They excel when given structure, motivation, and a path to success. At MTTC, we provide them with the guidance and resources to achieve their full potential.
THE SQUARE – The Logical & Structured Thinker
Squares represent stability, organization, and analytical thinking. These students prefer a clear, structured approach to learning, thriving in logical and well-defined academic settings. MTTC provides them with a strong academic foundation, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving.
THE RECTANGLE – The Adaptable & Versatile Learner
These students are versatile, adaptable and capable of balancing different learning styles. They benefit from structure and flexibility, and thrive in an environment that allows them to explore different approaches to education. MTTC provides a balanced and dynamic learning space where they can grow in multiple ways.
